Ending Violence Against Women & Girls

Every Woman and Girl Has the Right to Live Free from Violence

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It affects women and girls of all ages, backgrounds, and communities, denying them the opportunity to live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

At CPA Ghana, we are committed to preventing violence against women and girls, supporting survivors, and working with communities to create a future where women and girls can live with dignity, equality, and freedom from fear.

We believe that ending violence requires more than responding to abuse. It requires changing attitudes, strengthening protection systems, empowering women and girls, and engaging communities to challenge the social norms that allow violence to continue.

Our Approach

Our work is grounded in human rights, gender equality, safeguarding, and community participation. We collaborate with women, families, community leaders, government institutions, civil society organisations, and development partners to prevent violence, protect those at risk, and promote lasting social change.

We focus on prevention, early intervention, survivor support, and advocacy to ensure that women and girls are protected and empowered.

What We Do

We work with communities to address the root causes of violence against women and girls through:

  • Community education and awareness campaigns.
  • Promoting gender equality and respect.
  • Engaging men and boys as partners in preventing violence.
  • Working with schools, faith leaders, and community groups to encourage positive attitudes and behaviours.
  • Challenging harmful cultural practices and social norms that place women and girls at risk.

Every survivor deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. CPA Ghana helps survivors access appropriate support by:

  • Providing information and guidance on available support services.
  • Offering psychosocial support and emotional well-being programmes.
  • Referring survivors to specialist legal, medical, counselling, and social welfare services.
  • Supporting women and girls in rebuilding their confidence and independence through education, skills training, and livelihood opportunities.

We work to influence positive change by:

  • Raising awareness of violence against women and girls as a public concern.
  • Supporting community dialogue on equality, protection, and human rights.
  • Working alongside local authorities, civil society organisations, and community leaders to strengthen responses to gender-based violence.
  • Promoting policies and practices that improve protection and access to support services.

Together, we can build communities where every woman and girl is safe, valued, and empowered to reach her full potential.
